Marino's Tacos

The inspiration

Marino's Tacos is a family-run, no-frills Mexican eatery on Arrow Highway in Irwindale, built on straightforward cooking . The idea here is simple: tacos, burritos and plates made to order, without much fuss .

Who's behind it

The place is run by a local family, and diners who get to know the counter describe the owner as a friendly, quiet presence behind it .

What to order

• Asada burrito: a repeat favorite, big enough to fill you up on its own .
• Al pastor tacos: reviewers describe the meat as soft and juicy, and it pairs well with the house salsas .
• Torta Cubana: listed among customer favorites if you want your meat between bread instead .¹
• Refried beans and salsas: the red salsa gets singled out for a smoky heat, and the habanero version carries a serious kick .

What people are saying

The salsas come up again and again, from the smoky red to the habanero that reviewers warn you to use sparingly .

Why you should try it

If you're staying in Irwindale or passing through the San Gabriel Valley, this is an easy, low-key spot for a satisfying plate of tacos or a burrito that eats like a meal .
