Irwindale Public Library

The inspiration

The Irwindale Public Library reopened in August 2026 as the finished piece of a yearslong project to blend modern library services with the city's history¹ . Planning began with a series of community workshops starting in 2023, where residents shaped the building's design and priorities^1,2 . Permanent features inside, including a Founding Mothers mural and a Family Name Wall, honor the women and generations of families who built and strengthened Irwindale^3,1 .

Who's behind it

The library is a City of Irwindale institution, with Ryan Baker serving as City Librarian . City officials describe the project as an investment in education, technology and community gathering spaces designed to serve residents of all ages¹ .

What to order

• Digital streaming: Kanopy films and documentaries, plus a theatre performance video collection, available with a library card .⁴

Why you should try it

If you are staying nearby, this is a calm, newly built spot to work, read, or use computers, with flexible spaces for reading and studying plus expanded technology access¹ . It is also a rare chance to see a civic building that genuinely tells the story of its town, through the mural and the wall of names¹ .
