Koli's tip

Start early, carry plenty of water and expect river crossings. You need a free wilderness permit (self-register at the trailhead) and a forest parking pass.

How to get there

From the 210 in Azusa, take Hwy 39 north into San Gabriel Canyon, then East Fork Rd to Camp Bonita Rd. The trailhead lot fills early. Check the Forest Service for closures before you go.
