Starbase Azusa

Three homes on one corner lot in Azusa, with 8 bedrooms and 10 beds for up to 16 guests. Your group stays together without anyone on top of each other, unless someone calls the top bunk.

Sleeps up to 16 · 8 bedrooms · 10 beds (incl. 2 twin bunks) · 6 baths

01The story

Starbase Azusa is three homes on one corner lot, with 8 bedrooms and 10 beds for up to 16 guests, twin bunks included. Cook side by side at the kitchen island and linger at a long dinner table. When the night winds down, everyone has a home to head back to. Made for family reunions, team trips and offsites.

Origin

We bought this place as a single-family home, then expanded it and rebuilt it as Starbase Azusa: three separate homes on one corner lot. The idea was simple: big groups together, without anyone crammed in.

The interiors are by Cozy Palette, our own design studio, and these homes will be part of its portfolio of Airbnb design work. Every bedroom took its name from the night sky: seven planets and the Moon, kept to a moon print here and a planet poster there.

Why Starbase? The San Gabriel Canyon starts just up our street, and David loves astronomy. The tech is real too: smart-home features, very fast internet and a pro-grade network. The part we love most is simpler: watching a family relax because everyone finally fits.

04A day at Starbase Azusa

Slow mornings, long dinners.

  • Coffee corner with a coffee maker and a framed moon print

    Morning

The coffee corner is ready before anyone is awake, under a framed print of the Moon. Early risers take the first cups; the late sleepers are a whole house away.

  • Aerial view of downtown Azusa with the Metro A Line station and the San Gabriel Mountains

    Afternoon

Azusa sits right below the San Gabriel Mountains, and the Metro A Line is a 5-minute walk away. Split up for the afternoon, then meet back at the long table.

  • Dining table set for a group, with the kitchen behind

    Evening

Dinner lands on the long table, with the kitchen right behind it, so the cooks never miss the conversation. When the night winds down, the walk home is a few steps across the lot.

05Neighborhood

Settle in, then head out.

You're staying in Azusa, a 5-minute walk to the Metro A Line, so not every plan has to start with who's driving. Head out for the day, then come back to a place that already feels like yours.

Home truths

  • This is three separate homes on one lot, not one big house. Each has its own full kitchen and living room, so decide early who sleeps where.
  • Street parking is free, but check the street-cleaning signs before you park. Bigger groups can use the public structure by Target.
  • Zeta, the front home, has a few steps up to the door. Orion and Nova, at the back, have no stairs.
  • Azusa Downtown station on the Metro A Line is about a block away, a 5-minute walk. Handy for car-free days out.
  • Smoking outdoors only.
  • The courtyard between the homes is plain concrete, not a garden.
  • Some bedrooms have dark accent walls and low, warm lighting, so they feel cosy rather than bright.
