The story

About John Rowland Mansion

The inspiration

After the site sat closed to the public for several years, a 2024 partnership with the preservation nonprofit House Museum added eleven site-specific artworks to the property, reimagining it as a gathering place where art, history, and culture meet1,2 . The La Puente Valley Historical Society, founded in 1960, has stewarded the house since then with the goal of preserving and sharing the area's early history3,1 .

Who's behind it

Evan Curtis Charles Hall, founder of House Museum, brought together artists David Horvitz, Zara Schuster, and Emily Barker to create the 2024 installations and curates the contemporary side of the project2,4,5 .
