The inspiration

Moonlight Rollerway began its life in 1942 as a foundry that made airplane parts during World War II, then was repurposed as a roller rink in the 1950s¹ .

Who's behind it

Dominic Cangelosi, a longtime staff organist at both the Pasadena and Glendale rinks, purchased the Glendale rink in 1985^1,2 . He continues to keep the traditional live organ music alive, and the LA Conservancy describes him as California's last roller-skating rink organist¹ . Rink manager Adrienne Van Houten helps run the place and speaks to the nostalgic feel of the era it preserves² .
