Southern California University of Health Sciences began as the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, founded on October 18, 1911, to train chiropractors1 . That single-purpose school gradually widened into a university built around integrative, whole-person healthcare . SCU describes itself as the nation's first integrative whole health university, an idea that now shapes all of its programs2 .
The founders were Charles Cale and Linnie Cale, who started the school with classes taught in their own residence1 . Today the university is led by President and CEO John Scaringe, who has served in that role since 20103 .
